After
getting ready to office, got mail as holiday due to heavy rain in Chennai. So I
am into my blog today with this simple kaara pori. I would like to enjoy rain
with Kaara pori and tea from childhood. This is my Appa’s favorite. So my mom
always prepare this. Pori is very light and so you would not feel heavy. You
can have as much as you want. As garlic gives nice flavor to this, don’t miss
to add.
Let’s see
how to make this kara kara Kaara pori.
Ingredients:
Pori – 3
cups
Peanuts – 2
tbsp
Chutney dal
/ Channa dal – 1 tbsp
Moor milagai
– 4
Garlic – 4
cloves (you can add more)
Asafetida –
a pinch
Chili powder
– 1 tsp
Turmeric-
1/4 tsp
Oil – 1 tsp
Curry leaves
Salt as
needed
Method:
Take a
kadai, heat a tsp. of oil.
Add peanuts
and fry till the color changes to slightly brown. Keep the peanuts aside.
Similarly
fry chutney/channa dal in the same oil and keep separately.
Now in same
kadai, add one more tsp of oil and add garlic cloves.
Fry till the
garlic changes to golden color.
Add moor
milagai and fry till the color changes.
Add a pinch
of asafetida.
Now add
curry leaves and fry for few seconds. Add turmeric, chili powder and salt. Mix well.
Add pori and
mix well so as the spices mix evenly.
Fry pori in
medium flame for 10 minutes.
Take care and keep mixing to avoid burnt.
Now add
fried peanuts and channa dal and mix well.
Transfer to
serving bowl and enjoy with hot tea.
Note:
Add more
garlic. Today I added less garlic.
You store
this kara pori in air tight container for more than a week and enjoy daily
evening snack.
