Preparation:

Wash and cut the drumstick to 1 0r 2 inch pieces.
Chop the onion and Chilly.
Take a wide mouth pan and add a tsp of oil.
Add mustard and wait till it splutters.
Add Channa Dal & Urad and Dal fry till the color changes slightly.
Now add chopped onion, chilly, curry Leaves and Cumin seeds. (Adding cumin seeds are optional. I usually try adding to almost all the curries as it is very good for health)
Saute till the onion color changes to pink
Add drumsticks and fry for 2 minutes.
Add turmeric and Chili powder and fry for a minute so that the raw smell of turmeric and Chili powder would go
Now sprinkle some water and cook it in medium flame closing the lid.
Check and mix in between to avoid burnt at the bottom.
Cook for 10 mins till the vegetables get cooked well.
Add more water if required. Make sure you are not adding more water. Because the porial has to be dry. So just sprinkle little water at a time and cook in medium low flame.
Once the drumstick is cooked, add grated coconut and cook for a min. I like to add more coconut to this
Serve this porial with hot rice and rasam or curd rice.
