Aval Payasam with Jagery


Aval payasam is very easy and you can make this in minutes. This you can prepare as neivedhyam for Friday Pooja, Pournami Pooja, or any simple Pooja at home. Jagery can be replaced with sugar. Let see how to make this
Ingredients:
Aval /Poha - 1/2 cup
Jaggery -1/2 cup
Milk - 3 cups (boiled)
Ghee - 3 tsp
Cardamom powder -1/2 tsp
Cashew nuts – few
Raisins – few

Method:
Heat a tsp of ghee in a non-stick or heavy bottom pan and fry cashews and raisins. Keep it aside.
In the same pan add one more tsp of ghee and fry Aval/Poha till the color changes slightly.
Add boiled milk to the fried Aval and cook in medium low flow till the Aval gets cooked nicely and become soft.
Meanwhile take jagery, add ¼ cup water and boil it till the jagery melted completely. Filter this using a strainer. This step is to remove the impurities if any in the jagery.
Once the Aval cooked, add the melted jagery and cardamom powder. Cook for a min in very very low flame and switch off the flame.
Garnish with fried cashew nuts and raisins.
Tasty aval payasam is ready for neivedhyam.
Note:
Simmer the flame and add jagery to avoid the milk curdling. And after mixing immediately switch off the flame.
